Any new technology (i.e. phones, internet, etc.) are constantly being modified and changed in a way where we, as humans, can stay connected to each other 24/7. Also i use it during important sporting events when i like to hear reactions (to things that interest me obviously) But i hate when people down twitter because of exactly what you said. Theres more to twitter than microblogging.
